What kind of education and professional experiences did you have prior to beginning this degree?
Prior to this degree, I worked for after-school programs serving students in low-income communities in the Philadelphia area. I served as a social-emotional, academic, and behavioral support system for their students.

Why did you choose this field and what motivates you in this work?
I chose school psychology because it combines my passions for education and mental health. For most students, their school is the primary source for mental health resources. This reality motivates me to be the best mental health resource for my future students.

What do you hope to be doing after graduation? In 10 or 15 years?
I hope to be working as a school psychologist, advocating for the implementation of a school-wide social-emotional curriculum!

Why did you choose William & Mary and specifically your degree program? What sets this degree program apart from those offered at other colleges?
I chose William & Mary because it was clear to me how dedicated the faculty is at training future school psychologists to look at their students holistically. The warm, welcoming, and approachable faculty set this program apart from those offered at other universities.

What has been the most influential experience you've had so far in your program?
My practicum placement has been the most influential experience that I have had so far. This hands-on experience has given me the opportunity to take risks and make mistakes, so that I can one day become a great school psychologist.
