What kind of educational and professional experiences did you have prior to beginning this degree?
I was a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy.

As a student pursuing a master's degree in ESL/Bilingual Education, why did you choose this field and what motivates you in this work?
I wanted to teach linguistically and culturally diverse students.

What do you hope to be doing after graduation? In 10 or 15 years?
I am not entirely sure, definitely teaching. I would like to get involved with a bilingual program or school one day.

Why did you choose William & Mary and specifically your degree program? What sets this degree program apart from those offered at other colleges?
I appreciated the practicum and student teaching that was involved. I was interested in the bilingual part and the classes sounded very robust in scope. Many other colleges appeared to have a weak program focusing on only one aspect of ESL education instead of the many factors and perspectives in ESL education and spans across all of education.

What has been the most influential experience you've had so far in your program?
The field experience we get through student teaching has been the most influential in shaping my view of being an ESL teacher.
