Studying higher education at the second oldest higher education institution in the country provides for a very unique student experience and perspective. Before applying, the faculty at William & Mary were open and supportive to meeting with me to discuss focuses in the program, opportunity for research and their experiences at William & Mary. Many of the faculty within the School of Education are leaders in their field. Current students shared that they were happy, impressed with their professors and peers and felt well prepared for work upon graduation.
Additionally, there was an opportunity for a graduate assistantship. A graduate assistantship was important to me to gain the practical or experiential learning outside the classroom. William & Mary's program felt broad enough to me that I could study higher education without getting siloed into one category, but maintained the opportunity for specialization and focus.
