The mission of the William & Mary Career Center is to provide students and alumni with comprehensive programs, services and resources that build competence, confidence and the ability to manage lifelong career development. The Career Center is committed to diversity, accessibility and service excellence in their work with students, alumni, faculty, employers and the community.
Career program, services, and resources for the School of Education are located in the Career Center at 128 Blow Memorial Hall. A counselor on the Career Center staff serves as a liaison to the School of Education, and is designated to work specifically with those students, as well as a Graduate Assistant. Assistance is provided through individual career counseling, a series of workshops especially for Education students, on-campus recruitment, distribution of job postings, listservs, mock interviews, and special programs and speakers. In addition, students have access to several self-assessments, allowing them to explore a wide range of career options.
Assistance is also offered in creating and maintaining résumés, cover letters, employment portfolios, letters of recommendation, employment applications, and in honing interviewing skills. In addition, the Career Center offers a database of alumni contacts who are willing to serve as a resource for the purposes of career exploration and/or professional networking.
Education students in particular may also want to take advantage of the Credential File service offered through the Career Center. Files can be created and distributed for students upon their request.
