The William and Mary Clinical Faculty Program

2007 Summer Workshop
July 9 - 19, 2007
1:00 - 4:30 p.m.

This program is designed to prepare experienced teachers to support preservice and beginning teacher development through presentation, discussion and analysis of current research and practice.  Supervision, mentoring, communication, and evaluation comprise the core competencies that are developed through the program as participants supervise William and Mary preservice teachers and/or mentor beginning teachers in their schools.

Participants who enroll in the program complete a 3-Credit Clinical Faculty Preparation Course which meets two weeks in the summer and twice in the fall semester as well as twice in the spring semester.  Participants also supervise/mentor one William and Mary student or a beginning teacher for two consecutive semesters while meeting with college faculty and student teachers/interns to cover specified topics related to student teaching/internships.

Clinical Faculty must be selected and recommended by their building-level principal. To enroll in the program, participants must have a minimum of three years of successful experience in the student teacher/intern's licensure area and have demonstrated knowledge in the content and pedagogy of clinical supervision.  Participants must also exhibit a professional attitude as well as a willingness to work cooperatively with colleagues and mature students.  Deadline for applications is March 15, 2007.
