Dr. Pamela Wilson Aerni to teach at Longwood University

Dr. Pamela Wilson Aerni, who holds a Ph.D. from William and Mary in EPPL Special Education Administration, will begin teaching at Longwood University in the fall. She has a B.S. degree from Virginia Tech in Family and Child Development and a M.Ed. from Virginia State University in Elementary Education.

She is currently an associate of McLaughlin and Associates conducting project evaluations for math education grants as well as an instructional coach for Prince George Schools. Previously, she worked as a math coach for The Tidewater Team  for Improving Math Education at William and Mary. Prior to coming to Wiliam and Mary for graduate school, she worked as a 5th and 6th grade teacher in Greensville County Public Schools in Emporia, VA. Her first position in the field of education was an early childhood teacher and disability coordinator for the Head Start program in Greensville, Sussex, and Surry counties.

During her tenure as a doctoral student, she was afforded the opportunity to work with many faculty members on projects related to their research interests. Based on  these experiences, her current research projects include instructional coaching, special education teacher preparation, and self-efficacy for teaching mathematics.
