Jeremy Utt, a math and algebra teacher at Windsor Middle School has earned Teacher of Honor designation from Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education. As the second recipient of the award this year, Utt joins a small group of remarkable educators who have been recognized with this honor. As part of this recognition, the school of Principal Stenette Byrd, III, also received a recognition plaque.
To become a Teacher of Honor, Utt had to meet rigorous criteria that included being a highly qualified teacher, continuing education credits, leadership roles, and community service. Utt, who has been teaching only four years, has achieved more than the minimum requirements for the award. Beginning with earning the 2006 Meritorious New Teacher Designation, Utt has advanced his education through graduate courses, professional development programs, and personal research to expand his knowledge and abilities to best meet the needs of his students. Recently he earned endorsement in gifted education.
