Linda Harkins receives Fulbright-Hays Summer Abroad grant

Linda HarkinsLinda Harkins, Ed.D., 1998, supervisor for gifted education for Chesapeake Public Schools, traveled to Turkey with the Fulbright-Hays summer abroad program. 

The trip began at the University of Texas where Dr. Harkins and 15 other educators spent three days in a language intensive preparation classes. In July 2009, the group arrived in the capital city of Ankara, one of the most populous cities in the nation. The group spent three weeks in Turkey. The first week, the group attended a series of seminars taught by the nation's foremost experts in anthropology, history and education. The following weeks were spent touring Central Anatolia and the surrounding area with a fourth week in Istanbul.

Members of the Fulbright-Hay's summer abroad program submit curriculum materials to the U.S. Department of Education for review and, eventually, inclusion in the collection.
