Press Release

Darin J. Eich, Ph.D. uncovers what impacts student learning and leadership development in his book, "Root Down & Branch Out: Best Practices for Leadership Development Programs."

MADISON, WI – As leadership skills become more and more crucial in today's changing world, the need for high quality leadership program experiences continues to grow. Rightly so, leadership programs have also been booming in higher education. In his new book "Root Down & Branch Out: Best Practices for Leadership Development Programs" (ISBN 1468034782), Darin J. Eich, Ph.D. explores how the best leadership development programs have a high impact on students.

Eich combines professional experience and on-site research to create the Grounded Theory Model of High Quality Leadership Programs, a complete guide to what contributes most to student learning and leadership development. "Root Down & Branch Out" is designed to help would-be program developers and seasoned veterans alike and suggests forty (40) actions educators can take now to have a positive impact.

Eich's main goal is to help stakeholders and education professionals create and sustain programs using the high-impact qualities found in successful leadership development programs across the country. Eich describes the system of positive attributes, actions and outcome effects that describe what works in leadership education.

"Many leadership programs in higher education are having the kind of impact a college education at its finest should have," says Eich. "They offer highly engaging and active learning experiences and are developing skills that society and employers need most. Faculty and staff from a variety of subjects could learn from these best practices and put the actions to use in their own academic or co-curricular programs...even those that indirectly seek to develop leadership abilities."

Ultimately, Eich hopes to share what he has learned about high-impact leadership development programs with those stakeholders interested in creating the best programs they can. Eich hopes to share his passion for leadership, innovation and education through his new book.

"Root Down & Branch Out: Best Practices for Leadership Development Programs" is available online at Amazon.com and other distribution channels.
