Darlene McCoy
Darlene, born and raised in the Williamsburg area, has been with HTSAC since 2003. As the staff person with the greatest longevity, she is the linchpin that holds the Coalition intact. In addition to her impeccable institutional memory, Darlene has extensive experience in the area of finance, having worked for James City County, Child Development Resources, Thomas Nelson Community College, and the College of William & Mary’s School of Business in its MBA Admissions Office.
On a day-to-day basis, Darlene is responsible for accounts payable, procurement, payroll, travel, and budgeting. Darlene is the conduit to the College of William & Mary’s financial operations. In addition, she serves as recording secretary for the HTSAC board of directors, executive committee, project committee, and sustainability subcommittee. Darlene also is responsible for logistics for all HTSAC-sponsored public events including two annual meetings, all workshops and training for local substance abuse professionals, and all other special programs.
When she isn’t tucked away in her office at HTSAC buried under files and hollering for help, Darlene enjoys science fiction, movies, and books. She and her husband Curtis, a welder who works in Hampton, enjoy their two sons and a daughter: CJ, a freshman at TNCC, Kelsey a junior double majoring in psychology and journalism at George Mason University in Fairfax, and Everett, a sophomore at Bruton High School.
