Deborah Walker

Director of Professional Services

Deborah WalkerDeborah Walker grew up in Oklahoma then spent many years traveling with her military husband and children.  The Walkers enjoyed calling many states home as they traveled eventually putting down roots in Virginia.  Deborah attended colleges in Oklahoma, Kentucky, and Virginia.

As Director of Professional Services, in the Office of Teacher Education and Professional Services, Deborah enjoys working with teachers and administrators in the local school divisions to ensure positive field experiences for students in the teacher and counselor education programs.   Deborah also enjoys helping students navigate the licensure system in Virginia as well as other states and occasionally a foreign country.  Deborah has been with the School of Education 15 years and feels honored to be able to work with such remarkable students, staff, and faculty members.

When not in the School of Education or one of the local schools Deborah enjoys spending time with her husband boating in the local waterways or growing vegetables in her garden.   She loves the outdoors, cooking for her family, and gardening but her passion is her two grandsons.  Everything gets put on the back burner when the boys are around.  The garden becomes a great place to dig worms and the boat becomes a place to explore new wonders when you are looking through the eyes of toddlers.
