Janet Dannemiller Parker

Professor Janet Parker teaches curriculum & instruction courses in methods and instructional planning for classical and modern languages in the undergraduate and graduate M.A.Ed program.  She has been at the School of Education since 2000.

Janet ParkerShe earned her B.A in Spanish, French and Education from Wittenberg University and her M.A. in Latin American Literature from the University of Maryland. She received a Graduate Certificate in English as a Second Language in the Department of Multicultural and Bilingual Education from George Mason University and was awarded a graduate fellowship at the University of Salamanca, Spain.

Research Interests

Professor Parker is a specialist in standards-based K-12 curriculum development in modern foreign languages. She has directed curriculum development in many languages including Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Latin, Japanese, Russian and Spanish.

Major Accomplishments

Professor Parker has been the grant specialist for three grants (2000-2009) awarded by the Department of Education to Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland. These grants support the development of secondary curriculum and classroom materials for Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Russian and Spanish languages.
