School of Education (Graduate) Academic Calendar FALL 2008 (revised 9/17/2008)

AUGUST
1	FRI	Last day of EARLY REGISTRATION for Fall Semester 2008 (ends at midnight).
1	FRI	Deadline for registering for the September 11-12, 2008, doctoral comprehensive exams
24	SUN	Graduation conferral date for August graduates (no ceremony)
25	MON	General graduate REGISTRATION for Fall Semester 2008 (Jones Hall 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) for non-degree seeking students who are enrolling for the first time. Other students register on Wednesday. Refer to https://banweb.wm.edu/pls/PROD/bwckschd.p_disp_dyn_sched for course listings. The School of Education classes are listed under three subjects: ”Curriculum & Instruction” (CRIN), ”Ed Policy Planning Leadership” (EPPL), and ”Education” (EDUC).
26	TUE	Orientation for newly admitted SPACE & EPPL students (9:00 a.m. – noon; McGlothlin-Street Hall, Room 020)
27	WED	Registration for continuing students (both degree-seeking and unclassified students who were enrolled during Spring Semester 2008 or Summer 2008 but did not pre-register for the Fall Semester in April/May 2008). Graduate and undergraduate CLASSES BEGIN; first day of ADD/DROP
SEPTEMBER
1	MON	Labor Day (Graduate and undergraduate classes will be held, but administrative offices will be closed.)
10	WED	Last day of ADD/DROP
11	THU	Withdrawal period begins
11-12	THU-FRI	Written comprehensive examination for all EPPL doctoral programs (written comps are held the second Thursday and Friday after Labor Day)
OCTOBER
1	WED	Deadline for applying to graduate programs
3	FRI	Deadline to apply for May 2009 and August 2009 graduation
3-5	THU-FRI	Family Weekend
11-14	SAT-TUE	Fall Break (Graduate and undergraduate classes will NOT be held, but administrative offices will be open.)
23-26	THU-SUN	Homecoming Weekend
NOVEMBER
3-9	MON-SUN	Pre-registration for Spring Semester 2009 -- degree-seeking students
10-16	MON-SUN	Pre-registration for Spring 2009 graduate classes for degree-seeking students and returning unclassified students who were enrolled in Fall 2008
26-30	WED-SUN	Thanksgiving Holiday COLLEGE CLOSED (Graduate and undergraduate classes will NOT be held; administrative offices closed.)
DECEMBER
5	FRI	DEADLINE for December 2008 doctoral degree candidates to submit their final, approved dissertation for publication
5	FRI	Deadline for registering for the January 29-30, 2009, doctoral comprehensive exams
9	TUE	Last day to withdraw from a Fall Semester 2008 course
