At the annual Awards Ceremony on December 6, 2013, the Dean of the School of Education presented the Dean’s Awards for Excellence.
Dean Spencer Niles presents Pamela Eddy the Faculty Award for ExcellenceProfessor Pamela Eddy received the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Leadership for Collaborative Initiatives for her many important professional achievements and contributions to the School of Education.  Dean Spencer Niles shared that “Pam works tirelessly with a seemingly never ending supply of energy to advance the School of Education, provide opportunities for her students, and make a significant impact on the field of higher education.  Pam is a first-rate scholar, an excellent teacher and mentor, as well as an outstanding colleague.”

The Dean’s Award for Clinical Partnership was awarded to Ida Ostrowski, Newport News Public Schools, LaTanja Riley-Hedgepeth, York County School Division and Robin Rubenstein, Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools for their work in Human Resources. The three award recipients not only represent important partnering school divisions, but each of them individually exemplifies a spirit of collaboration and a genuine commitment to the excellent preparation of new teachers, specialists, and administrators. The award was presented by Associate Dean for Teacher Education & Professional Services, Christopher Gareis. Also in the photo is Deborah Walker, Director of Placements and Licensure.

Marvin Davenport, Steve Goodman, Althea Green, Mary Jackson, Jody Williams were provided the Dean’s Staff Award for Service and Commitment due to their dedicated service and strong Mary Jackson receives the Staff Award from Dean Nilescommitment to the School of Education.  Spencer Niles noted that “we are indeed fortunate to work with a custodial staff that consistently demonstrates excellence in their service to the School of Education.  They each make our School a better place in which to work and study.” It is my honor to be able to provide them with this well deserved award.”
