Emilie E. Godwin Ph.D. '09

Named for 2009 Dean's Award for Excellence - Doctorate

RESEARCH Emilie Godwin and Jeffrey Kreutzer have studied post-trauma marriages.Emilie E. Godwin, Ph.D. '09, currently, an instructor at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Division of Neuropsychology and Rehabilitation Psychology, Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia Campus was quoted in a recent article, "When injuries to the brain tear at hearts,"  in The New York Times.

Emilie graduated with a Ph.D. degree in Counselor Education from the College of William and Mary. She holds a B.A. in English from the University of New Orleans and an M.A. in Marriage and Family Counseling from Our Lady of Holy Cross College.  Emilie's exemplary performance in the Family Counseling cognate culminated in a leadership role as a Director for the New Horizons Family Counseling Center in 2007-2008.  She was a model for other students in her participation with the emerging research projects on factors influencing the progress and outcome of family counseling. Emilie's professional demeanor and proficiency in testing and assessment contributed significantly to the model of family evaluation, treatment planning, and counseling framework. She demonstrates commitment to her profession through her frequent presentations, research projects, and publications. Emily has held numerous research positions and has received a plethora of academic honors, including Honors in her dissertation, comprehensive written and oral examinations.
