New SOE Facility

The new School of Education facility was completed in May 2010. The new facility houses W&M's nationally-ranked School of Education and brings all of its academic programs, outreach centers and research projects together in a highly professional setting designed to stimBarton Malowulate collaboration and innovation.

Thanks to a generous gift-in-kind from Sentara Healthcare that  allowed the College to acquire 22 acres adjacent to campus, a singular opportunity presented itself to the Commonwealth of Virginia and private donors. With public and private support, William and Mary built a facility that ensures the School continues to give birth to new ideas - fostering the next generation of educational leaders who will serve the Commonwealth and the nation with distinction.  The new School of Education facility improves more than the teaching of teachers and the scholarship and research of education. It improves the lives of students and their families beyond the School itself.

Delivery of outreach services, one of the School's most important missions, will improve in both quality and breadth. The facility also fosters moreSasaki professional development for educators near and far. The new School of Education facility is an incubator for teaching excellence, for tackling the complex needs of education today and for promoting professional development. It is a facility worthy of one of society's most important endeavors: education.

This aerial view of the new School of Education building was taken September 11, 2009.  On target for completion in May 2010, dry wall and windows helped visitors visualize the new building.  During the School of Education Day faculty meeting in August, 2009, faculty and staff members toured the new facility and discussed how the state-of-the-art facility would enhance opportunities for collaboration and student interaction.

Faculty and Staff moved in the week of June 1-4, 2010.
