Professional education programs in the School of Education are nationally recognized and accredited by the Virginia Department of Education. The School of Education is accredited by NCATE, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. Through consultation with advisors in the School of Education, students plan programs of study leading to professional certification by the Virginia Department of Education. By means of the NASDTEC Interstate Compact, graduates who qualify for teacher certification in Virginia will qualify for certification in 41 other states.

The School Psychology program at the College of William and Mary is accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).

The School and Community Counseling programs and the Counselor Education program are accredited by CACREP, The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs. Family Counseling, the newest program, will undergo review for accreditation in 2006-2007.
